A few years ago I watched travel programme that sent its presenters in search of twenty four hour cities - that’s a city where you can do things all day and all night. Not just clubbing, but visiting art galleries, theatres, parks, and so on. I figured that, one day, I’d give it a go.
The problem with this sort of thing is that it can cost a lot of money for a day trip, so finding someone to do it with is tricky. Most people I’ve spoken to about it thing I’m crazy. One person thinks it’s a great idea; such a great idea, in fact, that she’ll be travelling with me to New York in October 2008 - just for a day. Two eight-hour flights, all the aggravation of getting through immigration twice in less than two days, taking time off work, and having to spend time at Heathrow after check-in.
Our plan is to do one of these every year until we’re bored, we’re broke, we’ve done them all, or we’re dead.
